| Where We Came From In 1976 our father Ken Jones who already was in the Ace Hardware business, opened a paint company called “Michigan Industrial Paint Supply, Inc.” Within a few years the company was the largest “DuPont Industrial Coatings” distributor in the United States not to mention the largest automotive re-finish paint supplier to General Motors Corporation. In an effort to capitalize on the success, in 1985 he funded a new start up floor coating company named Detroit Painting Company. It was during these years that his sons learned not only the floor coating business but also Industrial, Automotive and Architectural Coating as well. In 2003 Mark Jones who years earlier took over the family business when his father retired, accepted on an offer to sell. The decision was easy because he know that his brother Kris (who had been in an unrelated floor coating business for years) was ready to join forces.
